Warriors Day Parade Volunteers
Volunteering for the Warriors Day Parade: A Rewarding Experience
Volunteering for the Warriors Day Parade is a wonderful way to honor our veterans and active military personnel. This year, I had the privilege of being part of this meaningful event, and I want to share my experience with you.
**Preparation and Requirements**
Volunteers are asked to dress respectfully, avoiding shorts, t-shirts, sandals, or open-toed shoes. It’s important to be mindful of the weather, so hats and sun protection are welcome. Additionally, volunteers should bring a safety vest for visibility.
**Call Time and Briefing**
The call time for volunteers is 7:30 AM, with a team meeting and briefing at 8:00 AM. During this meeting, roles, procedures, and policies will be discussed, along with communication frequencies. Volunteers are required to bring a 2m/440 capable handheld transceiver and a small pen and notepad. It’s crucial to have a good working knowledge of your radio, including how to program it. The talk-in frequency is VE3SKY and/or VE3WOO UHF FM.
**Meeting Point and Event Duration**
The meeting point is the large white trailer just south of the Fleet Street Armoury. The event is expected to conclude by 1:00 PM. If you would like to volunteer to provide water, ice, or cups, please speak to Robert.
**Application Deadline**
The deadline to apply to volunteer is July 29th, 2024. Don’t miss this opportunity to contribute to a significant event and show your support for our heroes.
**Why Volunteer?**
Volunteering for the Warriors Day Parade is a deeply rewarding experience. It’s a chance to connect with your community, honor our heroes, and make a positive impact. If you’re looking for a way to give back and be part of something special, I highly recommend volunteering.
